Blog Writers

The Sad Girl Stories blog began as a place for us to put recaps of our Sad Girl Nights and share interesting articles related to the things we care most about. We’d like it to grow into a premiere online publication covering Mental Health, the LGBTQIA+ Community, Womxn’s Rights/Issues/Current Events, and female created Music and Art.

We’d like to establish a team of writers who operate as outside contractors submitting regular content to our editor. You will have complete autonomy over what you write about and how you write it, however publication of your pieces is not guaranteed. Once added to our list of approved writers you’ll receive partial payment upon submission of your articles with the remainder being payed out if our editor approves your piece for publication.

What we are looking for in article submissions

  • Researched

  • Well written

  • Insightful

  • Aligning with our organizations values

  • >500 words

What we are NOT looking for in article submissions

  • List-icles (Top 10 whatevers, and 25 ways to XYZ)

    • Exceptions will be made if they hit ALL the things mentioned above and have a minimum word count of 1,000)

  • Articles from other sources with no commentary or discussion added

  • Advertisements disguised as a blog post

Starting Pay:

$40 per published article

Writers on the approved writers list will receive the first $10 upon submission of any article regardless of whether it is published or not (max 4 paid article submissions per month)

with a bonus structure for over-performing articles

Growth Potential:

We’d like to find individual writers who are looking to specialize in one of the topics listed above (or another that aligns with our values) who are our regular content contributors. If you become a specialist your articles will be given priority in the selection and editing process as well as the per article payment raising to $60 per article.

Ultimately, we will seek to hire a full-time Editor in Chief to oversee this publication, as well as our Social Media department, and help to craft the overall narrative that is spread throughout the Sad Girl Music community. We will come to our regular group of writers first when that position becomes available.

Send article submissions to connect@sadgirlsongs.com (Subject: Sad Girl Stories Article) to be considered for the Approved Writers List. If your article submission is approved and published you will still receive your full $40 payment
